self-directed sessions

These sessions are perfect for those who have had some experience working with clay, This is a great way to continue your practice after completing one of the 7 or 4 week courses and they are a lovely social way of meeting new people! If you are unsure about your level of experience or you would like to chat things through before booking, please do get in touch via email hell@clodpots.com Whilst these sessions are not taught, I will be on hand to answer any questions you may have or chat through project ideas, Sometimes I may also be making my own work too!

Self-directed sessions run on Thursdays between 16:00-20:00pm

How it Works:

  • Sessions a booked in 2 hour slots and are charged at £25.00 per session

  • The use of Stoneware Clay, tools, underglaze, oxides, glaze and transparent glaze is included in this price.

  • If you wish to glaze your work, I have a selection of brush on/dipping glazes you can choose from I will be on hand to assist with dipping glazes and for any other help that is required.

    I am only able to keep your work for a maximum of two months after collection emails have been sent due to space restrictions, so please do ensure you get in touch as soon as possible to arrange collections/postage.

  • Kiln Firings are not included in the price of these sessions, the following fees will be payable if you require your items to be fired:

  • Small items (mugs or smaller): £2.00 per item

  • Medium items (12cm Plant Pots, Bowls etc): £3.00 per item

  • Large items (20-30cm Vases, Teapots, Lamp bases): £5.00 per item

    Please note: It can take up to 6-8 weeks to fire items during busy periods, you will receive an email once your pieces are ready to glaze/collect.

Hand building/Glazing

Handbuilding: There are plenty of tools, shape cutters, drape moulds, and patterned rollers to choose from. I am able to store larger pieces you may not be able to finish in one week wrapped at the studio until the following week. Please note I can only keep pieces for one additional week if you do not return your piece will be recycled or left to dry for firing.

pottery wheel hire

Pottery Wheel Hire: These sessions are perfect for those who would like to further their throwing practice, as these sessions are self directed it is preferable that you will have some wedging experience, you are able to centre clay, make basic shapes and turn your pieces. I will be on hand for some tips, tricks and help if you’re feeling adventurous and want to try something new!

if you wish to turn your items you will need to ensure that you book 2 weeks worth of sessions on the wheel (I would recommend doing this at the same time as there are limited slots available)
