Discover the Joy of Clay

Looking for a creative escape that leaves you with something truly special? Our 7-Week Handbuilding Course is the perfect introduction to working with clay — a relaxed, inspiring space to slow down, get messy, and make with your hands.

Each week you’ll explore one of the three core handbuilding techniques — Pinch, Coil & Slab — before combining them to bring your own ideas to life. You’ll learn how to shape, build, and design, then spend time creating a personal project with my support and guidance.

Past projects have included lamp bases, hanging plant pots, cake stands, and teapots — so whether your style is funky, functional, or fine-art inspired, you’ll find your creative groove.

The final weeks are dedicated to decorating and glazing your work using colourful oxides and underglazes, leaving you with a beautiful collection of finished ceramics to take home and treasure.

Perfect for total beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills, this course is all about creativity, confidence, and clay-filled fun.

Course Includes

  • 7 weeks of guided handbuilding lessons

  • Use of clay, tools, equipment, and all materials

  • Decorating and glazing sessions

  • Small group setting for plenty of individual help

  • A collection of finished, fired ceramics to take home

Practical Details

  • Runs Wednesdays, 18:00–20:00, over 8 weeks (includes one drying week break)

  • Aprons provided — please wear old clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting a little muddy

  • Trimmed nails recommended – your hands are your main tools!

  • Bring a notebook if you like to jot down ideas

Missed a Session?

If you can’t make a class, you can book a self-directed studio session on Thursdays (16:00–20:00) for £20 per two hours. These sessions are untaught, but I’ll be on hand to answer questions.

Collection Policy

Finished work must be collected within two months of your collection email due to space restrictions.
