7-Week Handbuilding & Throwing Course

The Best of Both Worlds
If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at both wheel throwing and handbuilding, this 7-week course gives you the full clay experience. You’ll explore the versatility of clay through guided lessons that balance structure, creativity, and fun.
In the first few weeks, you’ll learn key handbuilding techniques — pinching, coiling, and slab building — as well as how to add surface texture and decorative details. Then we’ll spend three weeks at the wheel, where you’ll learn how to throw cylinders and bowls, trim and turn your forms, and pull handles with confidence.
You’ll finish by decorating and glazing your creations in your final week using colourful underglazes, oxides, and glaze. By the end, you’ll have a collection of beautiful handmade ceramics to take home — each one uniquely yours.
This course is perfect for beginners looking to try both making methods, or for returning potters who want to refresh their skills and enjoy more studio time.
